Directions
From Downtown Bennington
Travel time: approximately 2 minutes.
- When driving south on US7 from (Manchester VT) turn right (West) on Vermont Route 9 toward NY.
- After you pass the Bennington Museum on your left, the road will take a sharp S-curve (past the Old First Church). Stay on Rte 9. We are approximately one-quarter mile past the Old First Church on the right.
- When driving North on US7 from (Williamstown, MA) turn left (West) on Vermont Route 9 toward NY.
- After you pass the Bennington Museum on your left, the road will take a sharp S-curve (past the Old First Church). Stay on Rte 9. We are approximately one-quarter mile past the Old First Church on the right.
From New York/ New Jersey
Travel time: approximately 3 hours from the Tappen Zee Bridge
- Take the New York thruway (I87) North.
- As you approach the outskirts of Albany take exit 23 to I-787
North.
- Follow I-787 North about 10 miles and take exit 9-East for
highway 7-East toward Troy and Bennington.
- Follow highway 7-East about 30 miles to the Vermont border.
At this point Highway 7-East becomes Vermont 9-East.
CAUTION After passing the intersection of NY route 22 South, then
route 22 North, you will need to take a RIGHT at the second blinking
yellow light about 2 miles ahead to stay on NY route-7. If you
go straight here you will be on the new route 279 bypass which
takes you around Bennington. After the right turn it is about
1 mile to the VT border.
- The Four Chimneys is 3.5 miles on the left just before getting
to downtown Bennington.
- After entering parking lot go to end of lot and follow driveway
around to back of Inn through the gates and park. Enter at Red
door.
From New York using Taconic Parkway
- Take the Taconic Parkway North.
- At end of parkway take New York 295 to New York 22.
- Take New York 22 North to New York 7.
- Take highway 7 East about 3 miles to the Vermont border.
CAUTION After passing the intersection of NY route 22 South, then
route 22 North, you will need to take a RIGHT at the second blinking
yellow light about 2 miles ahead to stay on NY route-7. If you
go straight here you will be on the new route 279 bypass which
takes you around Bennington. After the right turn it is about
1 mile to the VT border.
- At this point Highway 7 becomes Vermont-9-East and we are 3.5
miles on the left just before getting to downtown Bennington.
- After entering parking lot go to end of lot and follow driveway
around to back of Inn through the gates and park. Enter at Red
door.
Directions from Springfield or central Connecticut
Travel time: approximately 2 hours
- Take I-91 North to MA Route 2-West toward North Adams/Williamstown
MA.
- In Williamstown, take US-7-North to Pownal/Bennington.
- In downtown Bennington, turn left on Route 9-West
- Continue on Route 9-West for about 1.3 miles.
- The Inn is on the right a short distance after passing the
First Congregational Church in Old Bennington.
- After entering parking lot go to end of lot and follow driveway
around to back of Inn through the gates and park. Enter at Red
door.
From Boston
Travel time: approximately 3 1/4 hours
- Take MA Route 2-West to I-91 South.
- Take I-91 South for 2 miles to pick up MA Route 2-West again.
- Take MA Route 2-West toward North Adams/Williamstown MA.
- In Williamstown, take US-7-North to Pownal/Bennington.
- In downtown Bennington, turn left on Route 9-West
- Continue on Route 9-West for about 1.3 miles.
