Vermont Weddings Civil Unions Bennington Vermont

A pristine setting for weddings, rehearsal dinners, anniversaries, bridal luncheons and other special events, The Four Chimneys will enchant your special occasion — and your photographs for years to come.

Weddings & Civil Unions

Intimate and unhurried. If this is your wish for your Vermont wedding, you’ll find no finer setting than then Four Chimneys Inn.

From May 22nd to September 22nd we can accommodate up to 150 guests for an outdoor wedding in our beautiful West Garden Courtyard. Year round we can accommodate up to 60 guests indoors.

Because we are a small, intimate inn, it is usually necessary to book all ten guest rooms for Friday and Saturday night if you are planning a Saturday evening wedding. More importantly, this allows us to focus on your reception only; we are not distracted by serving other guests. Typically a bride and groom will secure rooms with their credit card and then let guests pay for their own rooms upon arrival. Click here to view room rates. The restaurant is closed to the public on the day of the event and is generally open to the public on the night prior to your event unless you choose to book your rehearsal dinner at The Four Chimneys.

Site Fees vary from season to season and include:

  • Pre and post-wedding portrait photography privileges. Please note that professional photographers are allowed on the grounds only for couples who hold their reception at The Four Chimneys.
  • Limited use of the garden, lawns and dining rooms for a five hour reception.
  • Use of round banquet tables and chairs.
  • Use of barware.
  • Catering incidentals included: ice, tray jacks, bus trays and tubs, trash cans and removal.
  • Set up of dance floor if desired.
  • Use of indoor sound system (if no DJ).

Site Fees:

Winter (November through April)          $ 500 ($1,000 if holiday)
Summer (May through August)            $1,600 ($1850 if holiday)
Fall (September through October)         $2,200 ($2,450 if holiday)
Columbus day weekend                       $4,000

Cocktails, Wine and Champagne:
The Four Chimneys offers both cash bar and open bar options. With the open bar option your bill is based on the actual number of drinks poured and the actual wine and champagne bottles opened. Typically the hosts select a red and a white wine to pour with dinner and a champagne for the toast. While each party varies, for budgeting purposes you can usually factor approximately $25 -$27 per person plus gratuity for alcohol if you are running an open bar for a five hour reception. With the cash bar option (or combination bar), the host pays a $25 per hour fee per bartender while the guests pay for individual drinks.

Large Receptions (61-150)
For larger receptions (61-150) brides contract directly with Thyme Tables Catering for all food, while contracting with the Four Chimneys for site and alcohol. Contact Lynn at the Four Chimneys for a site visit, prospective dates and any additional information.

Small Receptions (20-60)
For smaller indoor weddings (20-60) the highly seasoned Four Chimneys Restaurant staff will prepare your perfect wedding menu. Pricing varies from menu to menu, but generally speaking the average food and beverage costs for a five hour open-bar dinner reception with butlered hot and cold hors d'oeuvres is typically $75-$80 per person before tip, tax,and site fee. Actual charges will depend on your specific menu choices. Our staff can help you design an offering that fits your vision and your budget.

Our menu
Sweet potato bisque laced with crème fraîche and a dried apple chip. Chiffonade of Boston bib with radicchio and thinly sliced mangoes and avocado slices, crumbled chèvre tossed in a papaya vinaigrette and topped with a plaintain chip. Grilled salmon with an apricot mango chutney, emporer's rice and a sweet potato bird’s nest. Australian rack of lamb roasted to perfection. These are but a few of the sumptuous offerings from which you can choose.

Taxes and other fees

Small Mid-day Luncheon Receptions (20-38)
There are also some cases with very small midday weddings (1pm - 4pm) with no special music where we can reduce the site fee and waive the requirement of booking all ten guest rooms.
